I met Dr. Gilbert at a baseball game. He is a smart guy, and one who recognizes that the model put in place in the past was not working. His idea of collaboration and cooperation is absolutely the right one, and it has the potential to benefit the entire state and every institution located in it. This could signal a new, and improved outlook for higher education in West Virginia.
I love reading that article about Marshall, WVU and other colleges working together for the economy but when I see pictures of the Rock Creek development site all I can think of is "boy that would be a good place for a decent airport." Honestly, to do business you have to have good access to the air. West Virginia doesn't have that.

LeClaire told board members Marshall has the best composite financial index ratio of all four-year universities in the state, meaning the university is in the best financial health.
I noticed a couple of days ago that they were doing some drilling for core samples by the Byrd Center. I would assume this is a precursor to starting construction on the new buildings for the med school there. That'll really change the look in that area.
The NCQA - National Committee for Quality Assurance has announced that Marshall Family Medicine has received #NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home (#PCMH) Recognition. Only 1 in 6 primary care doctors in the country practice in an NCQA-recognized practice. #MarshallFamilyMedicine was recognized as a Level 3 medical home, which is the highest level of quality identified by NCQA.
