Not just the Texas money that we are losing to Louisiana, Oklahoma and Las Vegas.
Think of the huge boost that Casinos would give to Texas tourism.

But I guess gambling is only good when is run by the Texas goverment (Texas Lottery)

This is a topic that has been BEATEN TO DEATH here in Texas! What is the point of discussing our 'Opinions' if they don't matter? What matters is what the law says and it says No to Casinos in Texas.

My 'Opinion' is that everyone in favor of Casinos in Texas write our Governor and demand he pave the way for legalizing Casino gambling in Texas.

On a side note I am all for it.

This topics is one of the glaring facts that Texans do NOT support individual rights. Plus try buying a bottle of liquor on Sunday or the fact it isn't even in the grocery stores like it should be. To say statements like the Prostitution statement...infers there isn't any prostitution in Texas because we don't have casinos and that is plain silly. We should be able to have casinos and rake the money in here in Texas.

I agree. Alabama is having the same problem.

No. We're drug- and prostitute-free and casinos would come in and wreck that in one fell swoop.

ROFL that is the craziest thing I have ever heard. There are already plenty, and I mean plenty of drugs and hookers in Houston WITHOUT casinos. If anything legalized gaming might bring crime DOWN.

Here's a good reason to legalize it

Strict Texas prostitution laws cost taxpayers $8 million a year | Texas Watchdog Jan. 2011

.... the story estimates that taxpayers in Harris County alone are also spending roughly $2.3 million a year for the housing, care and feeding of prostitutes in the county jail. At the time of the reporting, 130 women were being held in Harris County Jail on charges of prostitution at a cost of a little less than $50 a day.

Oh, but then they'll legalize bestiality, necrophilia and cannibalism. Jesus would cry.
