My former college roommate graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Houston and has never been out of work. The company he works for was involved in the widening of a section of I-10 which lasted about 8 years plus he has had all types of other contracts such as rebuilding overpasses not only in Houston but as well as in other cities. He says that the demand is there and it’s only increasing in Houston.

I'll be back on later tonight to respond back. And I'll take some information out from my personal China folder on my hard disk this time and state sources.

As for now, I've got some work to do in downtown. See you much later.

In a fast growing area like Houston, civil engineering should be a great career. Actually, civil engineering is a good field anywhere.

Houston's ranked 30th in Tech for 2010, just below Boise & Phoenix...This sector is growing but still somewhat of a volatile sector - The city has a few years ahead before it catches up with some of the other established and diversified tech markets, A good deal of IT work is coming out of North Dallas and Austin this year...

You probably should look into how China's currency manipulation really works and how debt works if you are trying to go there. China is certainly a growing giant but it has barely touched upon the issues that developed countries such as those in Europe and America have experience: wage issue, healthcare, social security, etc. China can only go so far on the path it is pursuing.

The problem with tech in Houston is it doesn't include the technological advances and industry of the O&G that develop software it takes to discover, explore, and develop these resources nor do they take into account biotechnology from the medical center. It seems most tech list seem overly devouted to IT.
