Does anyone know of a less crowded camping area within 2 hours from Houston? I'm not looking for a campsite where theres always a bunch of all around you. Every 30-40 feet will be a tent. It kind of ruins the camping mood for me when theres so many people around.

Thanks.

The 2nd highest rated campground in the United States happens to be less then hours from Houston. Go check out Wolf Creek Park
TRA - Wolf Creek Park
There are lots of fun things to do in down town Coldspring too.

There are many primitive and semi primitive tent sites. They built dozens extra after Hurricane IKE so the freeloaders......oops sorry I mean the refugees had a place to stay. They never ended up getting used. All these sites are well spread out in the woods and steps from Texas's most beautiful lake where Catfishing is second to none.

If you're adventurous, you can camp right on the beach in Galveston. Nothing between your tent door and the water but sand Search the TX Parks website.
