On the contrary. I would LOVE it if Texas would have the same law, and I'd be so out of this 'so-open-minded-that-your-brains-leaked-out', liberal state of California tomorrow.

I am a legal immigrant and have a green card, which the law says I'm required to carry with me at all times. I find it OFFENSIVE that people choose to break the law, then complain when they must pay the consequences of their actions.

I say, round 'em all up and ship 'em back to Mexico.

Ramos was convicted of two felonies (including a gang-related assault of a young man aboard a bus and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman) at the age of 17 years but was not reported to federal immigration authorities due to San Francisco's sanctuary city policy. The city rejected any claims of liability and family members of the victims have filed a lawsuit as a result.

In July 2008, a young woman was robbed and violently injured in San Francisco's wealthy Pacific Heights neighborhood by an illegal immigrant named Alexander Izaguirre. Before the incident, Izaguirre had pleaded guilty to selling cocaine in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood and was involved in previous purse-snatching crimes, but avoided jail due to his enrollment in a program called Back on Track, which is run by District Attorney Kamala Harris and provided training for jobs that Izaguirre could not legally hold.

On July 31, 2008, 14-year-old Ivan Miranda was murdered and nearly decapitated in a sword attack in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood. Authorities arrested Rony Aguilera, known as "Guerrillero," in the attack and believe Aguilera is an illegal immigrant from Honduras. Aguilera had been arrested in 2007 in an assault case, but was never reported to federal immigration officials due to San Francisco's sanctuary policy.

In October 2008, a drunken driver illegal immigrant, Salvador Vivas-Diaz, crashed his car against the police car of Phoenix, Arizona policeman Shane Figueroa which later resulted in Figueroa's death. Vivas-Diaz had four arrest warrants, a suspended driver’s license, had been charged with forgery and failure to return to court but he was never reported to federal immigration authorities due to Phoenix's former sanctuary city policy.

On February 3, 2009 Francis Hernandez, an illegal immigrant, plowed into a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop in Denver, Colorado leaving three people dead and two injured. Hernandez had been arrested numerous times before but was never reported to federal immigration authorities due to Denver's sanctuary city policy.

Per..Sanctuary city - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not to mention Officer Rodney Johnson, who you might remember was gunned down in cold blood a few years ago during a traffic stop by an illegal immigrant in his custody who (1) had an extensive criminal background including repeat sex offenses and (2) was deported in 1999 but managed to return illegally a few years later.

It is quite telling that an arrant scumbag like this would be able to garner enough sympathy from his jury to avoid capital punishment. After all, as they saw it, Quintero was just a "hard working" family man, who simply had psychological issues and just happened to have been overcome with extreme paranoia while under arrest. Indeed, if I remember correctly, one of the jurors even went so far as to offer the rationale that Officer Johnson essentially "had it coming", given the inherent element of risk in his line of work! If anything can be said to be indicative of a "sanctuary city" sentiment, it would be incredible statements like these.

Stuff like this just shouldn't happen.

The fastest thing to ending illegal immigration would be a law similar to Arizona's. After the cost of labor triples - or quadruples - and people start screaming, all immigration laws would be repealed. Then everyone would be here legally. But those civil rights-types are just way too stupid to realize this. Sometimes a long-term gain begins with a little bit of pain. No pain (everyone deported now, economy come screeching down), no gain (end to immigration laws).

I attempted to enlighten members however the truth was ignored. The only person that understands what is going on is Alldoremi who is a green card holder and wants to immigrate legally. Everyone else wants to claim that dark skin will get them arrested.

At the very least it increases their chances of getting stopped, harassed and basically made to show cause as to why they should not be arrested. If there's a German who's here and is asked to show his/her passport that's fine, but odds are they won't get much scrutiny since they're white and there are a lot of people in Texas with German surnames anyway. They blend in quite a bit better.

Here's the deal - I'm not "pro-illegal immigration" or anything like that, but we have a horribly flawed policy and inept bureaucracy as far as immigration goes, and it needs to be fixed where it works for everyone involved. The idea of sealing the borders is pie in the sky. We live in a NAFTA world. Both major parties have interests in immigrants and/or the cheap labor they bring, and so do you unless you like paying a lot more money for things than you do. You may not like it, you may not agree with it, but there's a lot of stuff we don't like or agree with that we just have to deal with. However, if we're going to pass laws that would put legal citizens in a position where they are more or less presumed to be guilty until they prove themselves innocent, then we've finished the job of "destroying the country" that the illegals started. And at that point, we might as well just let them all come over since we have nothing worth protecting anymore. At least most of them work hard and don't complain so goddamn much.

Perhaps if every American could be pulled over and instructed to stand along a busy interstate while a cop searched your car for the crime of Texas plates with traffic whizzing by his family, including a 6 year old daughter at a clip of 70 miles an hour, more Americans would see it my way. Especially when 3 out of 4 occupants of the car are Mexican-American.
Suspected of a crime means that the police office has probable cause to pull you over or question you.

Which is quite broad. People have been pulled over being suspected for smoking pot because they had an air freshener hanging from your rear view mirror.

Basically the cops can make up whatever they want for "cause." Who's going to call them on it?
