Does anyone know when the Cross Creek Ranch schools will open and how do you think this will compare to Cinco Ranch? We are looking to move into the area and cannot decide between Cinco Ranch or CCR?

If you are on the KatyISD side, it is Stanley Elem, Woodcreek Jr, Seven Lakes HS. It is bound to be *quite awhile (years)* before any new KISD school opens. Stanley was the last school to be built under the past bond election, no new bonds have yet been voted on...(much less approved!)

These schools are shared by many neighborhoods. You'll not have a "Cinco Ranch School" vs a "Cross Creek" school. Heck Cinco is so big many different schools are "zoned" inside Cinco Ranch.

KISD is a very good school district. The parents are highly motivated for their children to succeed in this area, ergo the schools will have high scores... if that is what you are worried about.

I don't forsee any difference between the the current schools and any future-not-yet-on-the-books-to-be-built schools. But hey, who can, really?

Part of CCR is zoned to Lamar ISD, so in that section the school choices would be radically different. So there's that. Also, are you kidding about the "quite awhile" till new KISD schools are opened?! Have you seen the plans?? Here's a link: http://kisdwebs.katyisd.org/Communic...y%20121808.pdf

One thing to note is High School #7, between PMR and Cinco West which will undoubtedly handle CCR...scheduled for 2012. That's only 3 years away. The land is already purchased, the sign is already up. So no way kids in CCR will be attending Seven Lakes by then. New elementary schools are going up about one a year. Just check out the plans, the concentration of new schools slated for that south west corner of KISD...

Yes, Katy ISD has proposed schools (and purchased land) for the next several years. I was on the rezoning board when Holland was being built in 2007 when they showed these same projections.

*But* they currently don't have the bond money needed to build them. The last bond election, is said to have barely passed. So a new bond (which has already been postponed) is not exactly a *sure thing*

Will we continue to grow out here? Yes. Will we grow as aggressively as we did before the economy tanked? Maybe. Will us folks who live in the SW "new" part of Katy vote to pass the bond? Absolutely.

But will folks who live up by Mayde Creek, Morton Ranch, Kingsland, Barker Cypress, Katy Proper, etc... be so excited to pass a bond where the majority of money will be spent far from their neighborhood schools???? Hard to say.

Just saying... it is *not a sure thing.* One thing I have learned by building out here is developers will say anything and everything (stretch the truth) to get folks to buy. I heard so much during the 2007 rezoning of "my builder promised..." about the school, etc... Sorry but builders can't promise anything about schools (and TG for that!)

Until Katy ISD has the money...it is *just a plan.* Plans change. Some folks here remember that elementary 32 (we now call it Stanley) was slated to open at the Pine Mill Ranch site... as recently as 2007 they were saying, new PMR school to open in 2009! Well, Katy ISD decided on the fly to buy some land right quick at Cinco Crossing and Fry RD and put elem 32 there instead.

(Which was smart because many of us Stanley Folks in Cinco Ranch were at Griffin last year... swelled up to 1400 students, only built for 1000. It was when the opeing of Holland wasn't going to alliviate the overcrowding enough that they changed plans.)

How many people who moved to PMR in 2007 saw the same Katy ISD projections that *they* would have a neighborhood elementary in 2009?

The only portion in CCR that is currently scheduled for Lamar is the custom home section on the west side. The only builder there will be Kickerillo. This side is not even selling yet. Everything that is currently built or under construction goes to Katy ISD (Stanley, Woodcreek JH and Seven Lakes).

Float: I remember seeing your post not too long ago about different areas/development to move in to. Did you end up choosing CCR?

Thank you for the help. It seems like you cannot go wrong with a Katy ISD school either way. Now we just need to figure out if CCR is the way to go or Cinco Ranch since it is already developed.

Ok, here's my two cents. Buy the house you want. CCR is a great subdivision and will continue to grow. Yes, it will take a while but in the end, you need to be happy with your home purchase. Cinco is great, no doubt. No matter where you look, pay attention to the HOA fees, some are quite high.

We've lived in Katy for going on 13 years now and we just bought a new house in CCR and will be moving in about two weeks. Personally, we love the feel of CCR over Cinco, but thats just us. Some love Cinco, some love Grand Lakes yet others wouldn't live in either one.

Cinco Ranch and Seven Lakes are both fine high schools and I doubt you would go wrong with either.

Some of the nay sayers don't even live in or near Katy so do your homework and find that house that you just love.

Hugeton: We decide to rent for the first year since we are new to the area. We found a neighborhood that is in the same school footprint as CCR that we could rent a home in. We will probably end up in CCR. The wife and I both just really like it. Just kind of a gut feeling. Also we are not concerned about the issues noted above. One advantage (not noted above) that CCR has over Cinco (for us anyway) is the workout facility. That would save us ~100 per month in a gym (or Y) membership. Cinco does not provide such a facility.

We were visiting the community this past weekend. The Ashton Woods builder said if the community contiunues to sell at the pace it is at now, the schools will break ground in 5 years-that is for the junior and high schools. So, you are looking at at least 7 years before they are open. I have no idea for the elementary. This is why we may be reconsidering the area.
