This is the big city and everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings and be careful. At the same time, I think it is a little over the top to be worried that you are taking your life in your hands to go pick up your TV at the Best Buy over there.

I appreciate the input. I did not mean to sound ignorant, racist, etc. but I am completely new to the area. I had heard a couple people mention to steer clear of the Sharpstown area and just wanted to get more opinions. I still haven't made it over to pick up the TV, but I will be in the next couple days.

It doesn't take much to set off the Burb Bashers.

Sorry. As a little, blonde chick, I would never go there. Bash away.

Hey, EasilyAmused and I agree about something!

OP, you could probably pick up your TV at the Sears in Richmond or Rosenberg...I'd look into that if you have any hesitation whatsoever. It isn't ignorant or racist to be concerned about safety when you move to a new area and you aren't sure where to go.

Haha, I'm sure you can find someone to serve you some brown Papi if you go there alone. You might even be able to find a fenced off dumpster area behind a gas station, complete with a mattress. From Sharpstown all the way to Westwood. At least if bullets fly, the gas station's 3-inch-thick bulletproof glass will save you.

More seriously, if you're alone as a female going there for shopping who can't kick anyone's ass, bring a guy friend with you. If you're not able, there is a Best Buy in the Galleria area not far from there at 59/610/Richmond, much nicer area.
