I have been reading alot about builders going under and having alot of problems. Does anyone know what kind of position Ryland is in? Does anyone own one of their homes and have any feedback, good or bad?

Thanks

On the real estate site Implode o meter- they are listed as being one of the fairly safe builders, of course, who knows how safe anyone is? My sister and her sister-in-law both own Ryland Homes in Longmeadow and they seem to be a nice product, priced well. Neither of them have any complaints. I know that you get all your appliances and blinds included in the price.

It appears Ryland just stopped building in the Eagle Springs community. They have sold / are selling their model homes.

I've been in direct contact with their customer service department because of warranty issues, and I took that oppurtunity to ask about this very topic.

Thumbs up, they say.

We have had no problems with our Ryland - built 2001. When we had the insurance adjusters over to check the roof after Ike ( just pre-cautionary, there was no roof damage ) they said it was a well built home - for whatever that is worth.

we are building in Long Meadow Farms. They are planning a new area there to open in Nov-dec 09. We had a major problem. They were to frame out the slab and then survey and then pour the cement. The cement got poured before the survey and it was descovered one corner of the house encroaches the easment by 6 inches. It has been a nightmare but Ryland is paying all the varances etc to get it cleared for us to encrouch. As long as all that is in order by closing date it will be fine but if not. We will not close. We also had to stay on them constantly about issues in the house as it was being built but they did come back and fix them all. Over all it will be a well built house but I give credit to my husband who would accept nothing less.

They have NOT stopped building in there. They are not building the town homes anymore I believe but are still building single family. They are just not pre building anything anymore. I know of somebody who is actually building in there and we are moving back to ES this week.

While Ryland does build a nice home, I would agree with Matt. I closed on my home about 3 weeks ago and the washing machine they put in was DOA. So they made me call GE and put in a service call. Finally the building supervisor called me and told me they were gonna replace it, which I was fine with, but then GE passed it off to a third party courier who could literally care less when I get it. So its like 3 weeks later and I still have no washing machine.
