Plus if you are a Eagle Scout you can.

Carry a gun if you are gonna carry something for protection. Always take a gun to a fight.

in most states fixed blade concealed is a misdemeaner.
folding is ok, the size depends on the state, most have more strict law as to secured areas, schools so forth. the problems really begin when you use a weapon, self defense has pretty much become criminalized. my best bet would be on pepper spray as to avoid legal repercussions. remember the 3 elements to a weapon is possession training and volition to use, if you dont have all 3 its not a good weapon. that is why so many cops are getting killed number 3 has been eliminated, every time a cop pulls his side arm his pension is on the line.

you have a felony on your record?
If not go buy a gun and sign up for a CHL. Then buy a holster and practice practice practice at the range.
Then shave your head and look for trouble.

LOL jk about that last one.

You can carry certain knives, but I'd advise against it unless you're a trained knife-fighter. And even then, if you're a badass with a blade and you carve up a mugger, you'll get crucified in court. I'd say stun/taser tools, pepperspray, or a licensed firearm. Just train whatever you do, don't expect to be able to get to a pistol in the glove compartment if you're fumbling with your keys.

It's cliche, but awareness is the best weapon. Watch where you are and try to read people and situations around you.

You can carry any LEGAL knife. I believe the blade length limit is 4 inches. No switchblades, butterfly blades, etc. However, I wouldn't attempt to use one for protection unless you don't mind getting stabbed. Chances are if someone is up that close to you, things are in a bad way already. If you are against guns, try pepper spray as an effective thing or perhaps take a self-defense class. Otherwise, look into a CHL.

You sure can if you've got a concealed hand gun license.
