But we aren't happy we helped, we took on many of the city's worst residents and a lot of those folks never went home so we're still dealing with and supporting them to this day.

I recall seeing a news story a year or 2 ago around the anniversary date of Katrina and Channel 2 was talking to a young single mother who had been bused here after she ended up at the Super Dome following the flood. She was in the parking lot of a Houston grocery store and the reporter asked her how she felt about Houston and if she could thank the Houston people, what would she say. The woman looked at the camera and said "Houston ain't did nothing for me, what you mean thank Houston? I lost my house."

Yeah, Houston should have blocked I-10 at the state line and sent those buses to Lafayette or Lake Charles, let those fine folks figure out how to deal with the flood of refugees from New Orleans.

Lots of us emptied our wallets to help them, only to see news stories of some using their Red Cross cards at the Galleria for diamond necklaces and Louis Vuitton purses.
