Greetings,

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Is anyone familiar with the DPS road test route/s or even general approximations for the testing center in SPRING-CYPRESS (Mega Center)?

This is for a passenger vehicle (type C).

If so any pointers/tips/advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Andrew

Hi Oildog,

Thanks for your reply. My Brother made a mistake in his test last week and had to re-take it. Luckily we found one opening closer to home at Spring Cypress.

He has been driving in the US for over a decade but due to international moves his license expired.

Here is what went wrong last week (@Conroe) (see pics below). He was asked to take a left turn and mistakenly though that white line (see yellow box overlayed on image) was a turning lane and that he had to stop at the white line before turning.

Of course this was a two way street and once he went and stopped at the white line he was in the wrong side of the road.

I am still confused as to what that white line is!

In general I notice that street with residential neighborhoods do not have markers to divide lanes/either side of the street. Are most residential neighborhoods two way one lane each?

Also, would a one way street be clearly identified with a sign at every entry point to the street?

Thank you as always!

Andrew

Hi friends,

Just wanted to update you that my Brother passed his driving test on his second try after a careless error in the first.

The process was timely and the DPS staff were polite.

Thanks!
Andrew

Could you let me know how long the test actually is and what all do you have to do. I take it next week and I'm a little nervous

I don't mean to sound callous, but I don't understand why someone needs pointers on the road tests - they either can or can't drive and understand or don't understand the road laws. Is it just nervousness? If so practice driving the streets in the area if the Dps office you plan to go.

Hi Andrew

Seems like you had your road test at the Spring Mega Center a few months ago. How did it go? I would greatly appreciate if you could advise on the route, speed limits, any thing to pay special attention to, tips, common reasons for failure etc.

I have been driving inside and outside the US for over 10 years now without any problems so far. But, I had my road test at the Rosenberg center today and failed because I did not use the center lane to take the left. On reading this forum, I realized a lot of people have failed due to this reason already especially because the lines for the center lane on the Rosenberg test route were faded and barely visible to anyone (including me)! I have got the date for second attempt at the Spring Center for 3 weeks from now, with much difficulty. And really hope to pass it this time.

Anything and everything you could advise about your experience will be helpful. Thanks!
