We are looking to move from CA to the Houston area. Schools are our number 1 priority, with safety and commute to Houston also a concern. Could anyone reply on the best school districts? Coming from CA, we are looking for good schools to not need to pay for private school. Thank you!

Most of the suburban districts are fine. Katy, Cy-Fair, Ft Bend, Pearland, Lamar Consolidated, etc. Then just look into each district. In the same district some schools are better than others. USC619 is right just do a search. The best thing to do is let us know where you will work and what kind of commute you can tolerate and we can go from their. Good luck and welcome to Houston.

Doesn't matter what school district you are in, it matters what schools you are zoned to. And of course, the better the school, the higher the home prices will be.

Also, everyone's definition of best is different. Best academically, best all around, best diverse, best French program etc. which best are you looking for?

Housing budget would help narrow things a little.

Where is your work location? Houston is huge and commutes can be 2 hours if they are on separate sides of the metro area. There are excellent schools all over the metro area, and each school district has some great schools and some not so great schools.

Budget is a big concern too. Homes zoned to the best schools tend to be priced accordingling, but this is not always the case.

How ironic, you say school is your number one priority but you didn't even want to hear about the elite private schools. We have Google School for that. Why don't you go there and learn to do some research. Then get back to us with a specific question or particular area you might have in mind.

I thought Friendswood ISD was ranked higher than Clear Creek, and it's not even on your list.
