are there ANY districts that do field trips and are student centered in Houston at all?
I am coming from central texas where we have field trips and teachers have a lot of freedom in their teaching. Growing up in Houston and having friends who teach there, I have not heard of this there. Anywhere at all? Thinking about moving back.

I'm not sure what you mean by "student centered" but Tomball ISD does field trips.

The field trips are few. Schools could care less about their kids; what matters more to them are test scores.

Spring Branch ISD. Smaller, built out district, well funded. I hear of tons of feild trips.
They don't teach for the TAKS test.
