Hey guys, I always see transplants asking about neighborhoods yada yada and people only seem to suggest a handful of ones on the westside of the loop or sugarland, pearland, woodlands, etc. how come we dont try to recommend any areas outside of 610 and inside the belt?? theyre usually alot cheaper and alot closer to the "cool things"!! Just curious

They are usually in bad to very bad areas. The exception is to the west.

many of the neighborhoods in between 610 and the beltway on the west side tend to be affluent expensive parts of town that the typical person cannot afford.. the east side is pretty dirty/industrialized and the north and south sides (in between 610 and beltway at least) arent the greatest areas.. so unfortunately there really arent many options for nice, reasonably priced places in that area to recommend to people.

The truth?

Remember the dots demographics map? Outside of 610 and still in the Beltway is way more blue and yellow dots than people want to live around. It's like 60 of one or the other in those areas OR combined 60 with both.

Again for reference: Blue = black, yellow = Hispanic.

Other than Memorial sections that remain in the Beltway all around 610 and still in the Beltway is pretty much Acres Homes like or New Mexico. SES is assistance in high rates and as far as schools the percentages of economically disadvantaged is high.

Evidence. Yeah sure some can say no but you KNOW that's at least one BIG consideration no matter who you are.

Im only real familiar with 45 north and south. i would say just drive through the streets outside of 610 a lot of the areas are working class neighborhoods. patton, calvacade, college, monroe, wayside, edgebrook, broadway, telephone, etc. some of these places are even INSIDE the loop since people go crazy over being inside it

Wow I dont know why people would move to Houston if they think like that I've never had a problem in these areas and its not like they are the projects or low income housing. Just blue collar and working class people with good food everywhere

I was just recommending Spring Shadows today to a woman who wants her kid to attend the Monarch school. I have seen a lot of recommendations for neighborhoods in Spring Branch. Don't forget Meyerland, and Westbury are in that ring as are neighborhoods such as Glenbrook Valley, and most of GOOF as well.

Cool! I just dont want people to think inside the loop is good while everything else is bad until youre 30 minutes away from downtown
