I have a bit of a fear of crowds, so I can only imagine what it will be like this weekend!

One would hope condoms are not distributed at the parade. Nothing reinforces the stereotype of the hopelessly promiscuous homosexual than condoms distributed at a pride parade.

It was a decision by the organization who organizes the parade; dropping the ball implies someone forgot, or screwed up. Who would care anyway? It seems most of the people are drunk and having a good time, so if they can afford that, they can afford to buy their own. But I think the people who live in the area complained because of condoms all over the streets and so the organizers thought they'd fix that.

Oh please. I've been there and know exactly what goes on afterwards and it's not a secret at all. Passing out condoms should be a given, like that guy said on the 6:00 news. It's actually quite alarming on so many levels when people are against it, like how people in other areas are against those needle exchange programs. Wake up!!!

The houston gay pride parade is pretty tame. hopelessly promiscuous, like there are people falling over themselves to snatch up condoms. please.

several of the main participants in the parade are health centers. what else would they toss out? tongue depressors?

I have been to it many times. Just a bunch of people getting drunk and watching a parade. There are a few dudes running by in skimpy clothes. It is nothing crazy. The 100deg heat is what to worry about.

I worked the festival but didn't stick around for the parade last year (It was too hot and I left Houston for good the next weekend), but it's not usually overly crowded. There's an awesome vibe feeling a part of a community coming together. It's people you don't usually see and you feel great about it. But yeah it gets too hot. We handed out icy cold bottles of water to people (a church had donated a bunch of it) and they were so greatful, but I saw some very dehydrated and burned people.
