How about we fix some of the potholes in the streets? Maybe a sidewalk or two? I like Houston and we totally deserve this, but sometimes it's hard to tell people how nice Houston can be after you bring a friend and they trip over ruined sidewalks, bust up their car in terrible potholes, and wait for a table at a fancy restaurant sewage-y heat. Obviously the Superbowl is a big event and I don't expect the audience it will draw to be the most discerning city critics, but I think we will continue to draw larger events to our home, and it's time to do some housekeeping!

Sidewalks and potholes are a given.
That should be done regularly.

For the superbowl, Houston needs some major infrastructure upgrades.

Maybe they will start the university line.

Most big cities have crappy streets with potholes.

Hopefully City Council will seriously reconsider their need for the University and Uptown Lines and the feasibility of getting it done by February 2017.

Remember what happened during the All Star Game? The Super Bowl will be much bigger than that, and for longer, and Uptown does not have the infrastructure in place to handle those crowds.

I think Houston will be in a great spot in 2017 vs. what it was in 2004. There's already a host of changes today, and there will be more by 2017. It's really looking up even for DT.

Uhhhh...true, there are potholes in many cities but they're not nearly as bad and they have sidewalks. Granted the cobblestone in Boston is a ***** to walk and drive on but necessary repairs are made. Throw in the fact that more people drive here than in many other cities and you start to see the importance.

Like Htown love said it's a given, but I think it's a given Houston is just starting to recognize, especially with the Complete Streets Program. It just may need to be given more serious action. Infrastructure is going to be increasingly important to handle a massive influx of people.

How funny. That's the first thing that popped into my hope list when I first learned that Houston was awarded the Superbowl. Maybe they might mysteriously find the funds and start building.

Hey, one can hope can't they?

Maybe they will be generous and give us more than that.
I know its better than nothing but I never liked the University route west of Main.

A subway or monorail straight down westheimer would be my preference. But i will take the current plans over nothing
