Why way to go? If you haven't noticed, roads, bridges, services for veterans, many poor schools and the needy could use that surplus money.

Only in Texas would the citizens be proud of such a situation.

Seriously? As opposed to being a bankrupt state that still can't provide those needs you mentioned above? Yes, I'm sure the powers that be decided to ignore health, academic, and municipal needs for financial bragging rights.

Sheesh...there's always that guy...

If I learned anything...

Never openly speak of a surplus or wealth of any kind.... Folks you barely know will be at your door hat in hand.

The cats out of the bag uncle Tex... h'bout a loan?

Somehow I doubt the "surplus" will last for long.

What is Texas share of the national debt anyway? Mebbe we can buy out?

(dreaming for a few seconds of an unfettered economy free of perpetual indebtedness)

Imagine.... I can think of a few new lyrics...

Way to go Texas!!!

Much better than what I have seen here in CA over the past three years.

Better to have a surplus than to be in this situation.

Judge rules Stockton, Calif., to enter bankruptcy: Associated Press Business News - MSN Money

CA is the most screwed up place I have ever lived in my life.

Way to go Texas!

So what is the difference between hoarding and not paying for services and being broke and not paying for services?

Yes please do explain to us who is not paying for services?

Put your CA pomp pomps down and think about it.

CA is full of welfare hoarders who don't pay for sevices. The broke govt in CA loves to take our tax dollars and give it to the hoaders including themselves.

I triple that. Who isn't paying for services? I hope you didn't get that from Rachel Maddow. TX, if anything, is overly generous at least as it pertains to Illegals. Wasn't it Rick Perry who said we should pay for free healthcare and schools for illegals? He got his butt chewed out during the last primary over that. So let me ask again, what services is TX not paying for and if you even mention the affordable care act I'm going to puke out my dinner.
