Hello my husband is being considered for a transfer to Houston area (?bear creek office) , I know Texas will be a big change from NJ which is what we want, we have a large family and my mother would be coming with us so I would be looking for a rental to start, hopefully under 2100 for a 5 bedroom, is that possible and what area? we were thinking around KATY? Schools and a safe area is what is most important. Any advise you can offer would be so appreciated.

Upper Katy - yes. Below I-10 Katy - starting at $2300. Both safe. Schools better in south. Cypress, south of 290 - good schools and good commute.

If you're going to rent, location-wise, rent below I-10 or above 529. Bear Creek has some pretty bad crime based on the crime reports.
