We recently purchased a new (to us) home. Today we received a survey from the Harris County Appraisal District requesting a variety of information about the purchase price, changes we've made, etc. I assume they are doing this in an effort to change our appraised property value and am inclined to throw it in the trash. Thoughts from anyone who have had this same issue?

Throw it in the trash - we are in a non-disclosure state. You are not obligated to give them the information. Also, I have heard that they are knocking on doors now, trying to get the homeowner to "spill it".

Here is a good sentence: "I am sorry but I don't feel comfortable giving that information." Smile and just repeat as necessary.

Thanks so much! That was my inclination, but I wanted to hear what others thought. I appreciate the heads up about them coming to the house.

Bin it.

Our neighbor did tell them when they came knocking, other than the tear down, highest taxes on the street.
