Lots of positive articles on the Houston area lately.

Regarding Houston learning from Sugar Land: Issues come with growth. Sugar Land is new to the game of growth and age. Give it another decade, and you will see the decline in less expensive areas, decline in the aging apartments, and decline in the over populated schools. From some threads I've read, it's already begun.

Can you expand on this? Not sure what you are trying to say.

I don't know what you're getting at. Obviously, it's a municipality. Not the same thing as a bedroom community suburb like Cypress, South Katy/Cinco, etc. which are all just unincorporated Houston ETJ and can't enact zoning or signage laws, don't have their own police or city services, etc.

Sugar Land has been around a long time. It's not much newer to growth than Houston, which has also exploded in population recently and over the last few decades. I do realize Sugar Land has an advantage being much smaller and already more efficient from a city government standpoint. It also has the advantage of zoning. The decline thread and examples you speak of are probably of the unincorporated areas of Houston next to Alief that happen to have Sugar Land postal addresses but aren't in/near Sugar Land city limits (e.g. Townewest and surrounding).

Please stop comparing sugar land to an actual big city. Sugar Land is just a suburb. How many people lived in Sugar Land in 1920?

Can't change history but hopefully the good citizens of Sugar Land will make better decisions in the future!

That is pretty cool! SL is a nice place. On a separate note, can someone explain the fountain with the horses and rider? One of the horses looks like it's drowning. I recall walking by there and there were kids all around playing and I was thinking "am I the only one that sees this drowning horse??"

He and Culberson are the main reasons why there isn't more rail in the metro area now. Commuter rail from Sugar Land, along Highway 90, and then up to the Fannin South station was suppose to be under construction now.
