Every morning, make a cup of hot tea and put in a table spoon of honey (local honey is better). You can add in a few drops of lemon. Drink it the first thing in the morning. You'll get relief in a few days .

Better yet, drink your tea before your allergy season to prevent it to kick into full gear.
Thanks so much. I hate that there is no cure for this.

Do any of you use those air conditioning filters that are supposed to filter out more allergens? They cost a crapload (compared to the normal ones), I'm just wondering if they're worth it.

! take Claritin, Spouse uses Zyrtec. Something else that helps tremendously (if you can do it) are the net-pots sinus rinses - those are the best things ever. You just have to get the hang of it to hold your head at the right angle so the water goes in one side and easily drains out the other and doesn't run down your throat. And always use distilled water, not tap. Note - if you are so clogged that it the water won't run through, you shouldn't use it. I use daily during my allergy times - takes less than a minute. They are called net-pots and use a saline solution. I think mine is called Sinu-sense and I just picked it up at Walgreens.

Allergist says if people would do this when they first get symptoms, they'd probably never get a sinus infection.

Neti pot. It has an i in it. I have used tap water for years. It may not be good though.

There is a neti pot that is battery operated now is what I use my neilmed, tap water is ok as long it is boiled or just use distilled water.

Why would you need a battery operated one? What does that do? All you do is tilt your head and pour it in one side and let it run out the other. How does battery operated help that?

Oh yeah and thanks for catching typo - I knew it had an i but must have been in a hurry. Mine is called Sinu-Sense but it is just a Neti-Pot with a different name. You can use tap (if boiled) or distilled. Saw on world news, probably more a problem with well water than city water but a couple of people have died from using tap - (got an amoebic infection). So although rare - boiling (and letting it cool) or distilled takes away that risk.

Not necessarily funny, but random. Reading the OP's post, I don't think they were soliciting doctors.

I tried everything to alleviate my sinus and allergy issue in Houston. The only thing that helped me was going to a specialist. The over the counter stuff doesn't help me at all.

Depends on how bad your allergies are. Some people its just seasonal, mold, trees, ragwood - others it is year-round and when you are one of the unlucky year-rounders - a specialist is definitely in order for you.
