That most likely is the situation. It probably just took 5-6 years to clear out the houses and another 5-6 years to build the retention ponds. There are apartment complexes at lower elevations I guess to protect those they still need to build the ponds. I wonder how the complexes survived tho.

it feels like the middle of nowhere. i bet you can build a house there and live there for years without anyone knowing.

the electricity lines are gone, but there is still water and gas to the area. Seems like centerpoint energy came by to test the gas lines a couple years ago.

I knew some folks who lived there and were flooded during Allison, I believe. A short time later, through someone else, I heard that they were bought out by FEMA (or some government entity).

It was Tropical Storm Allison in 2001. The solds during 2002 mention that the homes were flooded. Then FEMA bought them.

I dunno where the city line ends. it is about 15 miles from downtown so it would be on the very edge. Not all of that area is in the city. fyi, there are skyscrapers right across the bayou from that area.

Greenspoint is partly in Houston, partly out of it.

There are weird areas like this all over area. Some areas of Missouri City are like that too. Boundaries here are sketchy.

No, I was talking about a "forgotten" community so close to a major city.
