Anyone have any experience with signing up sans initiation fees? I'm currently a member of Lifetime Sugarland and while the facilities are immaculate and its open 24 hours to accommodate my work schedule, I hate the idea of having to drive that far for gym access. I live downtown and LA Fitness isn't an option due to how early they close. Any suggestions appreciated. My main focuses are cardio, leg press, basketball and swimming once a week.

I would do a pre-paid only. I have seen deals from $650-800 up front to cover 3 years and then $29-49 per year for the rest of your life for all clubs except super sport.

24 Hour Fitness - Costco $330 for two years (by the membership at Costco take it to 24). We got a lot more for our gym here than the barebones one we went to in Chicago.

Seriously doubt I'd be willing to spend that much upfront. Just seems insane but that's my opinion.

Are you kidding me?

This the best deal ever!

You aren't going to quit going to gym 1-2-5-10 years from now are you?
If you are looking for a short-term thing then you may want to consider other deals.

Gym is a hobby, health and a lifestyle for me. Its for lifetime.

I would keep my eyes peeled for Sams Club deals.

I bought a 4 year membership, no other fees at all, for $400 at Sams. This was last December when they had their Holiday deals. Covers all locations except for Super Sport locations.

What happens after 4 years?

Hopefully a 6 pack

Truthfully, I believe it just ends. There's no auto-renew, as this deal is exclusive to Sams (or other flavor of big store shopping that sales similar gym deals). But, at my advancing age, perhaps I'll be able to do fine with some light running and military calisthenics a few times a week.

Sure but what happens after 4 years? Any plans to workout?
It ends after 4 years and what if this deal is not there then?
You can get a six pack without a gym.

Just be careful, I believe they are one of the chains that uses ABC Financial to handle their membership fees. ABC Financial is like the mafia, once you join them you are in for life. Some people have to go so far as to cancel their credit card and close their bank account to get away from these guys charging them for the rest of their lives.
