Funny when you think about reactions to rats compared to reactions to squirrels. Both are rodents, roughly the same size. Squirrels made out in the cute category, so we actually feed them.

I've never seen any rats here, but the other day some stray cats were playing with the back end of a dead rat near my back door. The rest of it had been eaten. Ick.

When we lived in Maplewood South years ago, every night when we walked the dog around the block we could see rats walking the utility lines. Never had any try to enter the house.

Must have been the dogs and cats in our house. Or noisy kids.

rats are simply an animal body to transmit diseases. much like we humans are.

rats are on par in intelligence with most animals we consider to be pets and are arguably more intelligent than dogs. they also attach to humans just as quickly.

a wild animal is still a wild animal but to smile and have joy in finding headless ones is a little creepy
