Gee I miss that Verizon guy....

This is the site I have bookmarked for New Orleans.

New Orleans, Louisiana (70112) Conditions & Forecast : Weather Underground

I would say wundergound is one of the most reliable weather sites. I have friend that works offshore and he told me this is what they use to watch for weather.

Weather underground can actually be hit or miss. Sometimes they're waaayyy off.

Another poster had data from them that had St Louis with a heat index of 120+

In terms of weather, that's a good comparison because like Houston Savannah is coastal and with the prevailing sea breeze both areas have very high humidity. Other North American cities in the same category would be Miami, NOLA, Pennsacola, etc. because they are all coastal
where there's a prevailing sea breeze (unlike California where it's a prevailing land breeze). ATL is 200 or 300 miles inland, right, so the bite of the humidity is diluted somewhat by passing thru drier air ?
You might check "weather.com" for various cities, and what you want to look at is "dew point" readings which is the real index for humidty, not relative humidity which can actually be misleading in some situations. The correlation is absolutely positive between dew point readings and humidty, i.e., the higher the dew point the greater the humidity.

Houston. Not even close.

With the Gulf sitting right here and all that moisture.

It's funny. Went back home to Boston and when stepping off the plane a guy who had boarded in Houston as I did, goes..' Holy sh%$ it's cold up here !' When we stepped in the jetway.

But it's always funny hearing the comments from people back home or anywhere, when they step out the airplane door those first few feet and that Texas heat smacks them in the face. Yeah, I know it's hot in Arizona, but the humidity is what makes Houston very unique here in the US.

I mean walking to my car is enough to have my Tshirt back soaked most mornings. And thats just walking at a normal pace.

I'm still not used to it,lol

There was a recent study that showed that Houston is the most humid large city. Atlanta doesn't touch Houston's humidity.

Currently, according to Weatherbug

ATLANTA
10:54 PM
Temp: 80F
Dew Point: 72
Humidity: 74%
Heat Index: 85
Wind: 0

HOUSTON
9:54 PM
Temp: 84F
Dew Point: 70
Humidity: 62%
Heat Index: 89
Wind: 9

This is just now, true, but as someone who has experienced the worst of summer in both cities, I still say people are grossly exaggerating the differences.

They are pretty identical from this viewpoint.

The most noticeable difference in weather between the 2 that I've noticed in that Atl has colder winters. The humidity didn't feel all that different. Now, going through LA, is a totally different story lol.
