In light of recent discussion about school lay offs, I'd like to bring a good news that Clear Creek ISD, reorganized to save 9.4 mil.
The ISD worked hard (I assumed) to find way to cut without cutting off people. The CCISD Information Directory said that the district administration costs are fewer that half of similar school district in Texas.
Through this organization, no lay off is needed and the change do not affect student-to-tacher ratios.

Yes, it can be done. We can do things more efficiently.
I'm so happy that I live in CCISD.

I've been thinking hard about high-tailing it out of Katy ISD for The Woodlands(Conroe ISD), I'm also going to add Clear Creek ISD to that list. I pay too much in school taxes just to sit and watch a rouge School Board/Admins waste it.

Tomball ISD is not laying off either. They are hiring. I recently talked to an Assistant Principle at our jr high and she said the district was in good shape, no cuts coming. Our new high school is opening early and under budget. From the schools web site, financial transparency page:

The 2010 School FIRST rating for Tomball ISD as reported by TEA is that of "Superior Achievement", scoring an 80 of the possible 80 on the financial accountability rating worksheet. Tomball ISD received the same top rating of “Superior Achievement”, with a perfect score in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 School FIRST ratings.
