I'm relocating from Ohio the first week of May. I know it gets pretty darn hot its Texas after all an its the one thing I love about being that far south. I visited 3 times last year and even in October highs made it up to the 80s. At what point does the Houston area reach the 90s ? What about 100s? Houston also seems to be more humid than Dallas and san Antonio.

The closer to the coast you get, the more humid it is.

I don't think we've hit 90 yet, but it's usually sometime in April or maybe early May.

I think most people will agree that August the is hottest month in Houston. Brutal humidity. But I think it actually gets hotter in Dallas but we get all the humidity.

About May 15-20 is when we start the sweating season. Highs over 90 and humidity...well extra sticky. It will be like that every day until a week after Labor Day.

I agree with this. We don't hit 100 as often as Austin or Dallas seem to but man is it muggy.

I'm in Air Conditioning repair, so I spend a lot of time on roofs. We're moving to Houston from Amarillo (dry heat) when school is out.

I let my weight get up to 292 (I'm 6'1"), I'm now down to 237. I'm determined to get to 190 quick as I can, don't want to be dealing with that humidity as a big boy.

Houston summers...plenty of motivation for me!

July-August can be unpleasant. It's rare the thermometer hits 100 in Houston. That's more common in Austin/SA, but less humidity there.

That being said, my girlfriend is from Cincinnati, and she says she would take Houston heat over Cincinnati winters any day. The heat, while still nasty, is easier to tolerate.

I wouldn't say 100+ is "rare" like snow. It seems to get up there a few days every summer. As far as heat index goes, in the peak of the summer it's all about the same in the big TX cities. The real disadvantage is nights & early mornings can be relatively pleasant in DFW, Austin & SA but in Houston it's still hot & humid.

I spent one whole winter on loan to my companies Cincinnati office (October 1 to May 1). When I got back home, I told my wife that if I ever complain about Houston heat/humidity, she could kick me in the rear end. It was a pretty miserable winter.

Believe me, if you are working on rooftops in Houston in the summer, you will sweat off that extra weight! (And congrats on the big weight loss so far!)
