The joy ride of 90+ degree temperatures usually beings in May, though it can start in April. The ride continues through October. Only in November does it start letting up with pleasant temps on a regular basis.

100+ degrees do happen in the hottest months; July and Aug. (and even Sept.)

When it lets up is variable.

In '08 we had the hurricane and after that was pleasant for the most part. Then in '09 it was nice until about the start of June which IIRC was the hottest and driest on record here.

Back in '98, April through October were something fierce.

The late spring and early fall are more variable, but June, July and August are always brutal. Then again, it's hot just about everywhere then.

This Texas weather is sounding better and better! It's 68 in NC today and I'm freezing! A friend came over last week and I had the fireplace going. He commented that I was going to love Houston. I can't wait to get there!

The weather is horrid from June to late October. ENJOY!!

The temp only fluctuates on avg about 10-15* between day and night during the summer. And the humidity makes it worse. And this weather won't make you lose weight. It's makes you drink plenty of beer.

My husband moved from Cincinnati and he says it's far easier getting acclimated to the heat than to the cold. He also was thrilled to sell his snow tires!

I've never had any issues with the heat or humidity after moving here from the north. The problem I've had in adjusting is getting used to what I call over-A/C. I find it amusing that my family keeps jackets in the car for the sole purpose of wearing when we go to restaurants, movie theaters, etc. I've also changed my work attire rotation to short sleeves only during winter months and long sleeves in the summer. Even then I tend to keep a jacket at work just to keep from shivering.

I've concluded that all business thermostats are controlled by the Thermostat Fairy. I've never seen her, but she's definitely menopausal.

Hilarious! and I hope there truly isn't a thermostat fairy, but in the summer Houston does appear to be an air conditioned city. You literally can't function without it there. I love the heat so bring it on I can deal with it up till about the 90's though. I do realize Houston is more humid than places like Dallas and Austin where 100 degree temps in summer are nothing for them. Actually they can get 30 days of 100+ temps a year which is pretty brutal and i think the dry heat thing is really a myth. if it's a 105 in San Antonio and 105 in Atlanta your gonna be sweating either way. The trade off are some of the most beautiful winters in the 70's and 80's.

Amen! Born in Iowa, lived in San Antonio from 1995-2001, moved to Milwaukee, and now moving back to Houston. We CAN'T wait. I am freezing today and its April! The winters last way too long here!
