I don't know if a house in Uptown is do-able on that income. Renting for sure.

Thank you thank you for the welcome wishes!! I will have to go into google and look for "Uptown" pictures! But we can not afford ?? I think 7 000$ per month is ok too. I would like to not buy a house yet. I like living in an apartment. Less work! And I can meet a lot of Americans. We have a little money saved. Maybe 150 000 $. A lot of going on in Uptown? I like to use pavements because I like to walk. I go to the gym. And we like to drive our bicycles. We like swimming too. Do I have to have a car? I dont have an american driving licence. My german driving licence cost more than 2000 $ and it took a few months to complete. I don't want to do it again. But If I have to I will. Do you fly a lot SteveArmy?

I think you'd be more than fine renting on that income there. That will afford you a very nice townhouse lease or very small house lease. To purchase a single family home in the nice parts of Uptown will cost you around 550,000 and up.

Not for personal pleasure but I finance the frequent flying of my family/mom.

Lol at $7,000 a month. Rent a townhome out in West University and you'll be near the Rice Village as well as the rail line.

Put $150k down on a $1.15M home and the mortgage comes out to be around $6,000 per month @ 6%. Sounds like you'll be able to take your pick for the most part.

i think they meant that was there total budget, not just rent budget.

But only 150 down on a 1.1 house, I don't think banks will do that anymore.

We only have approximately 6000 $ per month to spend. Maybe more if I work full time. But not much more than 6000 please. Can we AFFORD Houston? We like to live in a nice area. I heard that Houston is big. I never use my car. I have a ticket for the bus and subway etc. It is normally faster than by car. I don't want to live too far away from the areas where a lot of is going on. It does not have to be a big apartment. I think we are ok with a small apartment if we can not afford a bigger apartment!

Danke! Thank you for the help!

Honestly I have been deciding for the last week or so if I want to live in Houston or Dallas. I have viewed the pictures that are in both Dallas' and Houstons sticky part of the forum and honestly, I hope Dallas doesn't get mad at me but Houston's pictures looked better. I don't know why but it really did. I have heard people in Dallas say that HOuston wasn't clean but to me IMO the pictures looked just as nice as Dallas if not better. Still trying to decide between Houston and Dallas so please help me Houston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
