I don't think they actually officially announced it until yesterday, but most people in the company/industry saw the writing on the wall.

You're wrong, it was actually announced yesterday. But I'm sure it comes as no surprise.

I just talked to a couple of contacts at Exxon down in Houston and was told that Greenspoint and most of the downtown jobs will be moved to the Woodlands (the Downtown production office was specifically mentioned).

Yeah, there were articles a few months back saying Exxon will donate that tower to the city. Hoping for a residential conversion.

How much clearer can Exxon make it than they already have in their press releases? Exxon is not moving their headquarters from DFW. Be grateful for they are doing for you for Christ's sake.

I would say pretty likely, but thats not really out of the ordinary in situations like this. Maybe to keep from protesting for taking jobs out of the city?

Key words in that press release a few years ago being "at this time". The same was said about Fairfax. The campus was first announced as the new corporate campus, but the corporate part has been taken out.

Thats a lot of high dollar, high brainpower jobs moving from Fairfax to the Woodlands. Good for Houston. They may miss the excitement of DC, but will enjoy the cost of living.
