We are finishing our basement. Our home is 110 years old. The basement used to be dirt floor but in the 40's it got concreted. At some point a water closet existed because there is a toilet drain and sink drain and vent. We want to add a clawfoot tub a urinal, sink and toilet. There is no drain for the tub. I realize the floor will have to be cut to add the drain.

Here is a photo of the sink drain/vent tree. I am wondering if I can tie the urinal into this tree as well as the sink?

Here is a photo of the toilet drain.

Would I cut the floor and tie the Tub drain into this drain? I don't know if the toilet uses the same vent as the sink did.

Another photo of a line in the floor that was capped off.

I wonder if it is a vent. I have put the garden hose in it and can see water running through the clean-out in the basement.

Or I could run my tub drain to the line that drains the upstairs bathroom and laundry room(below)

Any and all suggestions are welcomed. I am a fairly adept DIYer however I'm inexperienced with this type of plumbing.[/quote]

You will either have to saw-cut the floor or set the tub on a raised platform...

What is the black pipe? Is that a vent or a drain from things upstairs?

If it is a vent it should work for everthing in the cellar.

I agree the claw foot tub should be installed on a raised platform to gain room for a trap, then you can join it with either the hopper or the sink.

The problem going from one pipe type to another assuming you will use pcv pipe, and what you can't see yet isn't pvc pipe.

What is really confusing to me is the black pipe cut a 45 degree angle going into the floor.

You might consider one more pic backed off some to show a over all view, and with light!

I can't make out the gray scale pic with round things on the floor at all. I think I see 1 pipe, and 2 semi filled holes of some sort.

The large pipe entering the floor at a 45 comes from the bathroom upstairs.

Why would it be a problem using pvc. I know all the plumbing under the concrete is cast iron.

If you are talking about the black pipe with fittings in the bottom(the pipe i posted 2 pix of) it is the drain/vent for the sink that used to be there. It vents up and drains down.......?

I was thinking of using the fitting/plugs in the side to drain and vent a new sink and urinal..
