I just got granite installed for my bathroom vanities. The installer also installed undermount sinks. The installer didn't use the undermount sink clips and instead used the following method:

1. Silicone around the bowl top
2, strips of plywood toe screwed into the vanity that is supporting the sink versus the clips that came with the undermount sink.

Is this method ok? I would think using the clips drilled and epxoxied into the granite is the "right" way to do it.

Advice?

I'm not sure if that is the "right" way but my sink installation was similar.

I just had a granite counter top installed in my kitchen. They siliconed the under mount sink. Then they put epoxy on small scraps of granite and used those underneath to mount the sink. No clips were used. The installers said this is the way they do it.

All our granite installers disgard the clips. Your granite people appears to have installed your sinks properly. No need to panic.

Using clips is the preferred method. However, sometimes the cabinet, plumbing and size of the cabinet make it difficult to use the clips. Screwing strips of plywood would suffice.

There is a few ways to support the sinks when installing countertops. The plywood, clips(which doesnt really help in most cases) because sometimes the sinks are heavy and the clips could break. Another way is using silicon with a sink harness. But you can visit Stainless Steel Sinks, Ceramic Sinks, Sink fastning products, Rodding for countertops | Braxton-Bragg to get a better picture so that you aware if the installaers are installing your sink poorly. Hope it helps
