Hi there!

I had to call a plumber yesterday to unplug my kitchen sink. It was a nasty one... about 12 feet down. He first poured a caustic substance down my drain and that didn't work, so he eventually used a snake (or whatever it's called).

The problem? The caustic material he used took some of the color out of my black granite sink.

It's not a white stain... more like a dirty gray spot, about the size of a thumbprint. But I don't like it one bit. And it's pretty noticeable. (At least to me.)

Is there any kind of paint or stain or something I can use on a black granite sink to at least make the bleached spot look less noticeable?

Thanks in advance!

Spray your sink with granite cleaner or pledge and wipe down. I used to have a Blanco granite composite sink in our previous house and just loved it - I soaked some white dishtowels in bleach in the sink and it made a dull grayish ring. I was able to get it out with granite cleaner/polish. I have a friend who uses pledge on hers to keep it sparkling.

I use Method's granite cleaner. To easily keep off mineral build up from the water, I wax the granite every month or so.

Default Does it specifically have to be Pledge?

I don't have any Pledge in the house, so I tried Endust, which appeared to work (I was thrilled) but then it came back. So I didn't know if there was something specific to Pledge that makes it work.

I will try the granite cleaner as well.

Thanks.

Do try the granite cleaner...I hope it works for you. The other thing that might work is Mr. Clean Eraser...sometimes I used to use that to remove mineral build-up.

I have black granite in my bathroom. A friend accidentally got denture cleaner on it and it has a big whitish spot now. How do I get the color back?
