I didn't see a repair forum, so I'll give it a shot here.

I bought a brand new oil filled heater (plug in type) as a supplemental heat source last year. This year I can't get it to work. I've tried several times, with different outlets, let it settle after i brought it downstairs, etc. No, I don't have any of the original packaging/warranty.

I thought these things were supposed to last for a long time? Is there anyway I can get it repaired easily, for less than I paid? Otherwise I'm out $35 and still need a new heater.

Cosmic, do you know how to fix one of these?

I am GUESSING that it is most likely a problem with the switch...if you know of someone who could repair it and that is the only problem it shouldn't be costly. However if you take it to a repair place I would imagine it might be cheaper just to replace the heater. I have two of these heaters and both are about 4 years old and I haven't had any problems...because they are a fairly simple design there really isn't much to go wrong with them.

Good luck with this, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Do you still have the owners manual? There could be a reset switch or a safety switch which may have tripped or been tripped accidentally since the last time it was used.
