Yep, that is my dreamhouse....a little 5 room cottage with a picket fence and an arbor full of tiny pink roses! Just big enough for me and my 6 dogs and my parrot!
I grew up in a small home. 3 BR, 1.5 BA and only 1100 sq ft. It was perfect. Always filled with lots of love. My parents have remodeled and opened up the space and you would never know it was only 1100 sq ft. My husband and I just bought our first home and it's 1619 sq ft. He would like a giant home but I love my house and actually would have preferred something smaller. Alas, compromises. Anyways, I think it's great you want a smaller home. Living in excess is what put this country in trouble in the first place (don't mean to stand on my soapbox). I think for our next home we'll try a bungalow-style in an older neighborhood. The new construction is fun, but there's something to be said about the architechtural (sp?) detail of older homes.
I'm currently dreaming about a teeny, tiny house--in my mind it looks like a little cottage or bungalow with window boxes filled with flowers and a white picket fence--I feel like I've fallen into a Disney movie or something and the deer and the butterflies are about to enter the scene...
But I was wondering--does anyone else have this fantasy--or does anyone live in a tiny house and loves it?
It would be great to hear from you...! And why a tiny house fantasy in the first place??? What does it mean??
Mother Earth News this month has a nice article on a couple and their child (and their cat) living in a 640 square foot home in Maine - very interesting!
Here's a photo of the outside of my "Little House in the Desert". I'll have to post inside pictures after I get everything where I want it
