Hello all,

Today I noticed a small water ring on my basement floor. Its very small but I understand any water is bad news in basement floors. Do you guys know what might be causing this? I still have my builder warranty so I will be contacting him soon.

Interesting that it IS so circular. I'd expect it to look more like a splotch... you know.. irregular.

I thought it was leaking from the ceiling but everything is dry. I was surprised with the perfect circular shape as well.

Considering there are two and they're next to each other, I'd be looking directly above.
If there are/is a wasteline(s) check joints with large amounts of water running through it (like a toilet with several flushes, a tub draining, or other combinations). If there are supply lines (and obviously not leaking) consider condensation as a possible culprit.

Right above i do have the gas furnace exhaust pipe that goes outside the house. That pipe gets warm when the heater is on. I'm wondering if that is causing condensation...

Yep, that's your bogie.
If its not actual condensation, it's possible that it could be rain water leaking down the pipe and exiting an elbow joint.

This made me laugh. I could say my basement is a Frank Lloyd Wright creation and charge admission. I truly have a stream going through mine. The only time the basement flooded was when the washing machine broke. My house is over 100 years old, and the foundation is as solid as bedrock.
