I don't know how much space you have on your property but I have 20 acres so I purchased a 10' x 12' Sturdy-Bilt storage shed (about $2,100) for my wood pellets. Of course, I only use about 2 pallets each winter. Two tons easily sits on one side of the barn floor and the flooring supports it well if not stacked to the ceiling.
BTW, the typical tandem axle utility trailer will hold 7,000 lbs (3,500 lbs. per axle). I have an open-sided car hauler trailer that I use to haul my pellets behind an 1/2 ton F-150 Ford.
