Keep after them, go as high up the ladder (no pun intended) as you need to. Get a supervisor involved.
Good luck!
Yes, definitely agree. We had to go over someone's head one time to get our claim worked out to our satisfaction. It took about 3 months but the powers to be up the chain of command ladder came through. Especially when we theatened to cancel all of our policies that we had had with them for 15 years.
I think if you look at your policy you will find that the insurance company is in the right. What percentage of your roof is damaged, 180 shingles doesn't really tell anyone much. Insurance is there to get you to where you were before. A new roof would increase the value of your home, not that a 6 year old roof is old but it's still 6 years older than a new roof and about 1/2 way through it's life if is is a 20 year roof--which last about 10-15 years. If the same shingle is still available, insurance companies are not required to replace the entire roof. After one year they will blend in with the other shingles.
Same thing if the siding on your house is damaged. If say just one side of the house is damaged, they are not required to replace all of your siding.
Originally they stated I had $4k in damages then they stated 'oops my mistake' it is only $2K.
180 shingles averages out to about 8-10 bundles. Which means you have about 300 sq ft of damage on a 1500 sq ft home. The estimate of $2k sounds right since its mostly labor. Contact the insurance company a get them to give a contracted price bid for the entire roof. If its a rectangular roof then it shouldn't be higher than $4k. Take their check and pay the difference. They are not going to cover the entire roof.
