I had granite installed all the way up to the cabinets. I considered glass tiles and other materials for the backsplash but couldnt find anything that didnt clash with the granite.

The solid granite continues on the wall behind the oven.

After installing hundreds of these systems, I can tell you that you should choose either the 4" stone backsplash with paint above, OR the tile from the counter surface up to the cabinetry, but not both. Never have any of my designer clients mixed them on a vertical face. A few retail clients wanted it that way, and even though I advised against it, tha's what they wanted........until they saw it. Then they paid me to tear it out and start over with one or the other.

I also like the granite going from the countertop up to the cabinets, and have done a lot of those as well.

Smaller backsplashes (in square feet) look better with a nice 4" tumbled stone on the diagonal up to the cabinets. Makes it look larger, and needs no additional design element to make it look grand.

Just some professional experience to mix in with the consumers.

I see more granite countertops that use a tumbled stone tile backsplash but I really like the standard backsplash too.

Why limit yourself to a 4" backsplash? 5" or 6" looks better in my opinion. I think the busy tumbled marble/tile/glass backsplashes have the capacity to look too busy and dated if you aren't careful. Keep it simple - granite is usually pretty busy.

The word "splash" is in backsplash for a reason. The downside of the 4 inch marble/wall combo is that you are left with cleaning painted sheet rock. 4 inches isn't that much so if you have a lot of cooking going on, expect stains on the paint. It's not an issue on a tiled backsplash.

Hey where ya been my friend? Nice job on the kitchen. Love the 36" wall corner 15 out with the rest of the uppers at 30. You could have gotten that over the micro cab out 3 also and up to the same 36. Looks like maple but I cant make out the color or brand. Is it Cardell? Dont tell me it is some local Lancaster brand or even by the Amish. All good.

Good ya crowned it too, although small it is not overwhelming. Hey I dont give credit too often, I only give it when deserved. You deserve it!

Great day to ya.........
