We just bought a new house and need to buy window blinds. For top floor, where all the bedrooms are, i am looking for blinds that gives privacy and darkness. But for the living room we have floor to ceiling windows, and i want blinds that give privacy but do not block light. Privacy at night time also, because i saw few blinds but at night they show the inside stuff as dark objects. So from outside you can still easily tell what's going on inside. I like something that you cannot see from outside and during day time if i close then it lets light thru. Any ideas????
I'm a little confused, however, you may want to check out Hunter Douglas Silohettes (i think this is the name) They are honeycomb blinds BUT have another lever to allow light through. Very nice. Lowes sells them.

I recently ordered some double cell honeycomb blinds from selectblinds.com. I have ben very happy with them. They let in light during the day, but I checked and didn't notice shadows from outside at night. Plus, they are the top-down/bottom-up kind, which is great!

Do you mean they're those without any cords? I like that. I wonder what you do with those honeycombs once they get dirty, though...
I'm gonna be in the same predicament, but can't think of it right now as I haven't made a decision what I want. Just bought some temporary shades. I'm not a big fan of blinds and I'm considering double curtains (sheer + solid), but some windows may still need blinds. I'll be very interested in this thread as well.

No, they still have cords. One on each side. The right cord moves the bottom and the left cord moves the top.
