And yeah, it's been a rough season for the 'Canes so far, I wish JR had not signed Maurice for 3 years, I don't hate the guy, but he just isn't the right coach for this team anymore.
Yeah, what happened to the Canes this year? I dont follow them closely but they were good (Champs) a couple years ago.
JR (Canes' GM) spent the off-season getting defensive guys such as Alberts and Yelle and so far it isn't paying off as our Offense missing in action. I wish we could get a winger for Staal to have kind of a 1,2 punch combo. Cole is not the guy, he isn't the same since Orpik hit him in 2006, but JR re-signed him because he's a fan favorite.
I also think bringing back Aaron Ward was a mistake, I loved him when he first played for us but he's killing us IMO.
With all this said I'm starting to take notice of some of the 2010 top prospects such as Taylor Hall and Cam Fowler as it looks like we're headed for one of these types of guys. Hall and Staal has a pretty nice ring to it.
I am not sure why they were auctioning for charity, had i known I would have made sure i had enough to buy it. I suspect they are getting new ones or leaving town in the middle of the night like the Baltimore Colts ( just joking)
Was listening to radio and they were talking about how frustrating it is for the Canes to have talent and lose so much. I am afraid that short of Staal and Cam Ward, most of the Canes players would be third or fourth liners on most other teams. They are a small market team with a small market budget. They over achieved last year. They score two goals in last two minutes of Game 7 to beat Jersey and then OT in Game 7 to beat Boston.
Yeah it is frustrating, especially coming off a memorable playoff run. But tonight it's all good after finally learning to win a game again. Guess we'll see where this takes us.
Paul Maurice is, and Jim Rutherford signed him for 3 years and is still paying Laviolette even though he got fired pretty close to a year ago. And plus JR and Maurice have been friends for a long time, so there's no way another coach will be coming for at least a year.
wow well unless they turn their act together. have fun getting the 1st draft pick next year
