Wow...I had no idea anyone other than Huntsville had a team. Do they play D-1 or is this a club level sport? F Title 9.

Title IX prevents them from playing NCAA (UAH was grandfathered) so the SEC shools are competing in the ACHA - Southern Region. Only Auburn doesn't have a team - yet. But the SEC schools have begun formalizing a conf. outside the ACHA, so there are two end of season playoffs- ACHA regionals and SEC Championships.

One of Bama's coaches skated for UAH, and was later an assist. to Doug Ross. Their other two coaches are former pro players. UAH is currently "independant" - a team without a league; unless I missed something in the last week or so.

Oildog, I wish your were in Dallas instead of Houston. The Frozen Tide & Arkansas will meet at the American Airlines Center in Dec.

It still looks like most schools in the SEC don't field hockey.

It is good to see that hockey is spreading into these areas.

Vandy has (or had at one time) a hockey team. They (Vandy) played my alma mater, University of Southern Indiana; and were quite literally an embarrassment to real ice hockey.

I'll keep my eye oout for SEC games in Big D...I often make the trip to see the Stars, a team I grew up watching.

Never heard of this league, it's a great thing this sport has success in the south though.
