Here's a list of my 10 favorite NHL unis. Past and present.
10. Vancouver Canucks: Say what you will about having the team's name on the front, but these are great. They combined the classic with the modern and became one of the few good Reebok uniforms around.
9. Calgary Flames (2003 home/away): A good color combo with a stylized letter. The flaming "A" (which came from the Atlanta Flames) for the alternates just sets it off.
8. Colombus Blue Jackets: One of the few good looking Reebok sweeters out there. I love the Ohio flag logo. It remindes me of the old Hanna-Barbaria cartoons.
7. Montreal Canadiens: Just classic.
6. L.A. Kings (2000): It's purple, black, and silver (just like TCU) and it's got a shield logo. Just a little better than their silver and black Gretzky unis, IMO.
5. Edmonton Oilers (2000): Navy blue with orange trim and a simple "OILERS" inside a circle with an orange oil drop is to die for.
4. Dallas Stars (1999): The championship sweaters. I, like most here in the DFW area miss these and are mad that they're gone. These were one of the best uniforms in all of sports becuase it was unique with its star shaped top.
3. Pittsburgh Penguins (2002 and throwbacks): The black and vegas gold V tops were great. The powder blue and navy is even better and thank God they at least kept this one.
2. Chicago Blackhawks: Just like the Bulls, the black and red just fits the team's name and logo.
1. Toronto Maple Leafs: I can't tell you how much I love these. No other sweater comes close to this simple and classic, one color uniform. The throwback with the realistic leaf is the best of all.
Honorable mentions:
-Boston Bruins
-St. Louis Blues
-Washington Caps
-New York Islanders and Rangers.
I'd take the Kings out..... replace them with the Isles.
I think Chicago's should be #1.
And, instead of Vancouver... either Boston or St. Louis.
Just my opinion....
I was glad to see Vancouver go back to the blue and green, but just don't like the whited out logo and city name over it. Would have liked to seen the original orca logo without the city name on the current uni's.
Why don't more people have love for the Flyers orange and black? Those are wicked and classic
Probably because I vehemently loathe all Philadelphia sports teams. But the Flyers do have a great jersey, I give you that. Old school. Too bad Reebok got ahold of that one as well.
