The players will be rusty and out of game shape by July, won't they? The tournament would be like awarding the cup for winning the preseason. That's what that seems like to me.

They would get 3 to 4 weeks training in before. Again it is a tentative plan. Still very possible balance of season canceled.

I’d be fine with a tournament, but not awarding the winner the Stanley Cup. The Cup is too special to give it away in a truncated format such as this. Make a special trophy for this year only.

I think it would be best to forget this season and get ready for next season to (hopefully) start on time, or at least start before American Thanksgiving.

It sucks, but tournament style games in a neutral location doesn't excite me. I'd rather have everyone ready to go as usual by October.

With the recent talk of MLB starting up as early as next month, although that seems nearly impossible. June I can see, but once firm plans are made I think the NHL could and will move up their start date, and the NBA could follow with a similar concept.

I miss hockey. Canes were on the upswing, for sure.

I suspect they will try to put something together to satisfy their TV rights and not lose all that money.

Otherwise, I am fine with calling it a wrap and getting ready for 2020-2021, with fully rested guys.

New updated "tentative" info coming out of NHL.

Players start to skate May 15. Training camps start June 1st. Continence and completion of season starts July1, followed by playoffs and Stanley Cup finals during Sept into October. Start of 2020/2021 season to be pushed out. No info on draft.

Games to be played at 4 or 5 different NHL arena's. Empty to start and possibly fans at a later date.

Stay tuned!

Saw a story and large photo on the front sports page of last week's Sunday Boston Globe about how some sports traditions could likely change.

The photo was of Jordan Binnington and Zdeno Chara shaking hands at the end of Game 7 of the Final.

Oh, how I wish and pray hockey doesn't lose that tradition...forever? Maybe a few years, then a return to shaking hands? How sad.

Even the shaking of hands at the Draft would be jeopardized?

The AHL who have farm teams affiliated to the NHL had cancelled the rest of the seasons and the Calder cup playoffs.
