I'm stunned he is starting tonight. Granted he has not had his day in court but the Avalanche should make a statement here. His former GF Evgeniya Vavrinyuk states this was the 5th incident that he has beat her up and apparently all were during drunken rages. The other 4 times did not happen in The United States. Begs the question why did she stay with him but still.
If all of this is true it's going to give the club some very bad publicty. I suspect something is up and it's not going to be good for Varly.
I remember when he was with the Caps, wasn't he quoted as mentioning that American women are not attractive/even ugly vs. Russian women? Not sure if he meant all or the average Americsn. Hmmm...
But this perhaps makes the average Denver sports fan and non-sports fan think all hockey players are thugs.

I'm a big Caps fan and I have been following the team since 1975. I do not remember that quote but he had a bit of an attitude problem in Washington which led them to trade him for drafts picks. I'm not in the locker room but I did hear many times he would lose his composure when a goal was scored on him and the team tired of that. Whether that was directed at his teammates or not I am not clear.
I have been following him as I thought he had the potential to make it big. I was just writing the other day to a friend of mine and fellow Caps fan and told him we both knew he had the potential to become a big star.
This has left a very bad taste in my mouth. His victim has bruises and I do not think she did it to herself. Shame on the Avalanche for starting him tonight. If this gets proven in court that he did this I hope he goes to jail and has to pay his victim a lot of money.
I'd love to hear that Dallas blew them out tonight. Tonights game is in Dallas.
I'm all for a fair trial. I have read quite a bit about this and going from that he seems like an abusive drunk with no conscience to me.
If I am correct I predict he serves less than 2 months during the off season. In other words because of who he is and the money he has he's going to pretty much be getting away with this:
I'm all for letting justice run it's course but does this mean the wedding is off?
