Any role players out and about? I don't see a search feature so I'm not sure if this topic has been covered or not. Anyways I'm new and looking for people with similar interests and one of the first forums that caught my eye was Hobbies. Since I believe hobbies and interests are what make a person interesting after all

Anyways, *Crosses fingers* I know you're out there.

Hiya, I used to play and DM the World of Darkness (Vampire, Werewolf and Mage only cauz Changeling is more for girls ( except the Oriental Changelings).

I also played Rage (the cardgame based on Rage: the Werewolf).
Rage is more combat oriented than that Vampire cardgame but I used to make my own Rage cards and have converted lotsa vampires and mages into Rage characters, gifts and combat cards.

I even have written stories about my WoD characters and NPC's ( it wasn't called the storyteller system for nothing).

Unfortunately most of my American friends have gone back to the States so I don't RPG that much anymore. Heck I think that it has been 5 years already since the last time I played or DM'ed.
I also used to be a huge fan of Heroclicks and have ordered boxes full, unfortunately it didn't caught on here in Holland so I gave it up too.

Nowadays I only get my kicks from playing X-Box 360 games because I refuse to upgrade my Windows XP to Vista.

Former RPGer here and I also played the WOD games including Rage! Tricky...I never knew anyone but my wife and I played that!!LOL D&D was always my fav though. We're looking to get back into it at some time. In fact, I was B&N monday night skimming the new Players Handbook! With a 2 y/o though I think we're a few years away from really being able to start playing again. A friend of ours is hosting an all day D&D blowout this Saturday but we know it would be a disaster for us to try to go and take the kid. I refuse to get into mininatures and stuff like that, I'm a dice and paper guy and/or some very select card games.

The reason I like Rage is because it is a violent game so you can play it with sound effects.
There was a time when me and my buds (only about 8 players) where playing a store-competition of Rage amidst a Magic competition.
All the Magickers were real silent & serious and we were the only 1s having a blast growlin' and threatenin’ to rip our opponent apart.
Sometimes it got so heated we truly slammed our combat cards on the table.
I truly enjoyed slowly slashing my opponent bit by bit and taunting them (read: talking smack) all the way untill they are nothing but a pile of tears.
I was more a specialist/strategic player than the typical rager.
My favourite deck was a cross of the 7th Generation and Pentex deck.
I luv to skin werewolfs with a deck were most of my characters can't even rage or regenerate.
Aah, the good old days.

Too bad they revised the whole Rage system where it became so different even the hard-core players in Holland just quit the game.

YEAH!! It was an excellent game! I think I fell out of it before they revised the rules but I did hear a lot of bad stuff about it. I LOVED Jihad as well but it was slow. I developed a hybrid rules set to integrate Rage and Jihad together. Only got to play it once though so I never got to tweak the game play well enough. I probably still have it written down somewhere. We definitely still have ALL of our cards from Spellfire, Rage, and Jihad just waiting for that day when we can connect with enough people to play...it's gonna happen!

Word.

I simply created vampire and mage characters with specialised gifts and combat cards.
Vampires are similar to werewolves except they generally have lower rage but a higher gnosis. They can also regenerate but only if they had inflicted a wound in the previous combat round. I also created specialised combat cards for vampires were they can immediately regenerate a wound at the same time they inflict damge (the rage card they heal cannot be of a higher rage than their specialised vampire combat card they attacked with).
The also had specialised gift cards which had to to with their vampire abilities and some vampires can use werewolf giftcards like the Brujah vamps can also use Red Talons Gifts.
Most mages had high gnosis but low rage and they normally cannot regenerate, but most mages can play gifts and some mages could even play kailindo combat cards.
I truly had a blast makin' them.
Of course I used the art of the best artists like Luis Royo, Brom and Soroyama Hajime.
Unfortunately most of my friends didn't accept my homemade cards but we had a blast play testing them.
But even they had to admit that it was balanced and that vampires and mages could fit perfectly in the Rage system.

Last I heard Rage went online, but I dunno if this is the original system or the revised 1.

If you are planning to expand a game with your own cards you better know the rules correctly so they work perfectly within the existing game.
And creating decks was my favourite.
Everyone can make berserk decks and I wanted my deck to have much more personality.
Often my characters talk 2 each other; this is how I taunt my opponent.
It also adds a special flavour to the game.
Unfortunately shouting Medic, medic we got a man down at the top of my lungs is far too common in a 7th generation deck.
But the surviving team members (if there are any) swearing revenge always makes up for that.

I'm really hoping we hear from some more D&Ders! It would be cool to get a little community going for that. I know it'd for sure perk my desire to play even more!

I played D&D before it was cool, starting from 1975 with the very first set of rules. A friend of mine even worked for Gygax and TSR. We went on to play Traveler, Boot Hill, Rune Quest, and Space Opera. Won tournaments at GenCon, etc. etc. etc.

Then I discovered the best role-playing game of all: Life. I threw away the books and the dice and the lead figurines and got on with something much more rewarding. Why play pretend when you can play at the real thing?
