That should keep you busy for awhile!

I've been crocheting for over 40 years and have barely scratched the surface of that second site. Have fun!

I do a very simple pattern that is in squares and made in one piece. it works for a small pillow sized cover to a humongous king sized bed cover. It looks like a patchwork quilt and pick the pattern and colors by who gets it.

Do twenty one single stitches to start after the slip stitches. Do five rows of triple stitches three to a hole skipping two, and one to catch the last stitch. Then finish with a row of single stitches.

Go to the side, where the rows will be the oppostite direction. Do a row of 21 single stitches along the side. Repeat the rows above. You can do a strip of three or however you wish to repeat the pattern. The best way is to start in the middle and work outward, and be creative as to pattern and colors.

When you have a side to hook your rows into do this first. Do 12 stitches spaced evenly along the side. Then crochet your rows. When you reach the end, where you hook it in, skip one and hook the new row into the body with a regular stitch, then finish. This will also square up the different stitches and bunch them nicely.

For bigger ones you use 31 stitches to begin with, and ten rows of triples. Use 22 stitches for the hook row.

These are easy to do, don't require lots of counting and look lacy but are still warm.

I believe the stich where you attach the row to a side has a name but I figured it out myself. I've never learned how to read crochet patterns, alas....

I've been crocheting for many years, taught by my grandmother when I was nine. Later, I picked up knitting and spinning. My favorite resource for all of these is Ravelry. If you are not already a member, join the flock! There are lots of hookers there.

Thanks for sharing these! I've been looking for good afghan patterns & this ought to keep me busy for a LOONNNNGG while!

My latest project is a red, white, & blue king-sized blanket for the master bedroom ... have lost count of the jumbo skiens of yarn I've used so far! LOL!
