The 4th of July is the time when we celebrate our nation-- a time to reflect on the freedoms which we believe are not granted by our government, but are self-evident rights for all humankind.
Sorry I never liked History. I got 16 right out of 30.
Missed 3, the amendments not ratified, the one about liquor, and born in Texas 9I had Eisenhower and changed it to Bush). The problem with these tests (I'll be ranting here) is that the various American Government tests required to graduate high school are like this one: trivial pursuit without deeper understanding.
24. Missed the Amendment questions and Eisenhower.
It said that I missed only the question about the Pilgrims, but I knew right away that it was a bad question.
The best answer among the choices it listed was to set up a new country. The Pilgrims eschewed religious freedom. They were intolerant of all forms or religion except for their own, which makes the question and the choices listed under it a bad one. The Pilgrims were separatists--meaning they wanted to separate from England and the Church of England because they believed it retained too many Catholic remnants. Thus, the Pilgrims detested the Catholic Church and consequently were not advocates of religious freedom. Moreover, the Pilgrims really opposed any belief system except their own.
29 here. "How many amendments proposed but not ratified"?
Man, you'd have to be a squirrel to know that one.
Same here. As far as schooling goes, this is important, as it opens the door to further study. How could one debate the great issues w/o knowing the basics?
