I've been looking for a house for quite a while now. I am looking in a large area - basically Harrisburg, PA to Winchester, VA with Hagerstown, MD being the hub that I want to be close to (I'm currently in Raleigh, NC).

My question: Is high-speed internet available in ANY rural PA towns? Not one house that I have inquired about has it available. My wife and I both work from home and require reliable high-speed (cable or fiber).

Even some tiny NC mountain towns that aren't tourist destinations have fiber. MD and VA have decent options, but not PA. What's the deal?

We live in a rural town about half way between Lancaster and Harrisburg. (Elizabethtown) and our service provider is Comcast. They have been our provider for about 15 years. We also sit off the road about 800 feet. I may ***** about the cost, but I was very happy watching them lay that cable up to the house.

I realize we are not in the specific area you are asking about. But, we have easy highway access, (about 25 min to HBG) hear almost no road noise, plenty of local farms sell fruits, veggies, most any farm or food product you might want. Being located between both cities is great, at different times in our lives, both the wife and I have worked in either HBG or Lancaster

On some Sundays, I can sit in the sunroom I am currently sitting in and watch the Amish buggies going home from their church visit.

We live in a rural town...Cashtown, that is outside of Gettysburg and have interent. Comcast is the provider. We need it for our business. Not sure if you are talking about houses to buy or rent. Had very little trouble having it put in.

In the Mechanicsburg/Camp Hill area...are there other options besides Comcast?

Yes, Verizon Fios's fiber is in much of this area as well as Comcast.
