I am looking for a place to have a wedding reception in the Chesapeake, Virginia Beach or Norfolk area. I really want something creative and different. I was hoping to find like an old barn or something like that. I feel like I could make it very interesting and unique. Any suggestions or ideas?

Botanical Gardens in Norfolk is a great location. Also the Chrysler Museum is a beautiful place to get married.........I lived right next to it and they had weddings there all the time and it looked so magical!

Chick's Beach/or North End might be nice for a beach wedding or the Contemporary Art Museum. Went to a wedding at the Art museum and it was so beautiful.

You might be able to find an old barn in Chesapeake that you could rent out or in Suffolk.

There is a place in Yorktown right on the water called the Freight Shed and I have been there for wedding ceremonies and that was a really great place as well. You supply your own food, drinks and music, etc........but a really nice spot and you can make it as unique as you want!

What date (season) are you planning on getting married? That might help people with their suggestions as well.

Good luck and congratulations!

Chrysler Museum was one of the better weddings I've attended. Botanical Gardens... I was not too impressed by personally.

If you aren't looking for anything super unique, but at least a little different than the standard high rise hotel thing, we had ours at the Founders Inn and I was very happy with how it turned out... nothing but positive feedback from the guests.

There are several new hotels with nice accommodations in chesapeake on Crossways Blvd. Check them out, I think they will fit what you are looking for.

I don't know how many people that you are planning to invite to the wedding.......but for a smaller more intimate setting there is Bed and Breakfast in Norfolk called The Page House and they could accommodate a smaller wedding venue. It is a big beautiful older home in the historic area of Ghent. I used to live across the street and I saw weddings being held there and it looked really beautiful. They have a lawn on the side of the house where the ceremony/ reception could be held. There could be a few other options for the actual cermony but it would depend on the number of guests that plan to attend. Just an idea!

Default Beach house weddings in Virginia Beach?

Kind of in the same boat as Melanie Lynn. My best friend just got engaged over the weekend. She wants to get married THIS labor day weekend. She wants something small and unique. After seeing the price on some of the fancier venues (botanical gardens & museum) she has come up with an idea to rent out a huge beach house and set up a big tent out back for a reception. Does anyone know if this is do-able? We're both from Illinois and are not familiar with the Norfolk, VA Beach area. Any ideas or advice is welcomed. Wedding will be around 50 people.

Grand Affairs on Pleasure House Rd, and I believe they have a place in Chesapeake as well. I've been to a few weddings there, great service.
